Anand: In Anand, Gujarat, Prime Minister Narendra Modi attacked former PM Jawaharlal Nehru without naming him. On Monday, Prime Minister Modi said, after independence, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel had resolved all the issues of the merger of the then princely states, but the responsibility of Kashmir was with 'another person' and it remained unresolved. Assembly elections are due in Gujarat later this year. In a rally, Modi said that he was able to solve the Kashmir problem because he follows in the footsteps of Sardar Patel.

PM Modi said that Urban Naxals tried to stop Sardar Saheb's dream project Sarovar Dam project. Modi said, 'Sardar Saheb was successful in persuading all the princely states to merge with India. But another person took the responsibility of resolving this issue of Kashmir.' He said, 'Since I follow in the footsteps of Sardar Saheb, I have the values of Sardar Patel's land and that is why I solved the problem of Kashmir and paid tribute to Sardar Patel.'

Due to this, Prime Minister Modi also took a dig at the previous Congress governments of Gujarat. The Prime Minister said, the previous Congress governments built dams but did not make any connection with canals so that water could reach other areas. Modi asked, had he done any work to see the construction of dams? He said that he took this task into his own hands and completed it in 20 years. He said that now water is reaching every nook and corner of Gujarat and due to this agricultural production has increased by nine to 10 times. Modi also said that the urban Naxals tried to stop even the Sardar Sarovar Dam project and kept it embroiled in legal troubles. PM Modi said, 'They wasted our 40 to 50 years, We had to go to the courts and the hard-earned money of the people of Gujarat was also wasted. Sardar Sahab's dream has been fulfilled today. He asked BJP workers that if Congress leaders meet him, they must ask them whether they have visited the Statue of Unity in the honor of Sardar Patel.' He had said that many decades have passed since Sardar Patel and now they should show some respect to him but they will not do so.
