Gandhinagar: BJP MLA Govind Patel from Gujarat made a remark about the workers of his party. On Sunday, he said 'not a single BJP worker contracted corona as they work hard.'

Govind Patel representing Rajkot in the state was questioned 'if the cases of COVID-19 are rising due to violation of guidelines then by political leaders and workers are campaigning for the upcoming Assembly polls in several states.' Answering the question the leader quotes "Those who work hard do not get coronavirus infection. BJP workers work hard, and therefore, not a single worker has been infected with the virus." Patel's statement had come after a month when Gujarat CM Vijay Rupani was tested corona positive during the poll campaigning. Accidentally, Patel himself also was tested positive a few months ago, luckily he recovered from the disease without any major complications. Also, in the past, many other leaders of the ruling party have also tested positive including state unit chief CR Patil and several MLAs.

Vadodara BJP MP Ranjanben Bhatt on Saturday informs about her report of corona and was admitted to the hospital. Later Patel gave a clarification over his controversial statement mentioning that his party leaders are the only hard-working people in the nation. He explained saying he wanted to say that laborers don't contract coronavirus but added 'BJP' in the same sentence. He corrected his statement by saying ''I wanted to say that laborers don't contract coronavirus but added 'BJP' also in the same sentence, which is a mistake. I take my words back."
