Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel has given the green light for a Rs 1,470 crore allocation aimed at upgrading and strengthening roads connecting industrial and quarry areas across the state. This initiative will enhance 688 kilometers of roads in 65 regions, focusing on the needs of the Industries and Mines Department.
The improved roads will reduce traffic congestion in cities, towns, and villages, ensuring smoother vehicle movement. Gujarat, home to the highest number of industrial areas in India, follows a policy-driven approach that prioritizes robust infrastructure and ease of doing business. The state's exceptional industrial growth, fueled by the Vibrant Global Summit initiated under Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has solidified Gujarat as the top recipient of Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) in the country.
Details of the Road Infrastructure Plan:
Four-Lane Expansion: 83 kilometers
Widening to 10 Meters: 173 kilometers
Strengthening and Upgrading: 432 kilometers
The plan also includes improvements to bridges and drainage systems, and the construction of flyovers where necessary. Special focus will be given to rural roads linking quarry areas and industries, ensuring they meet current and future demands. This comprehensive strategy will cover all regions of the state, including North, Central, South, Kutch, and Saurashtra.
The Chief Minister's approval for this road development project is expected to enhance the Ease of Doing Business by facilitating the movement of raw materials, finished products, and minerals. This will encourage the establishment of more industries in Gujarat, significantly contributing to PM Modi's vision of 'Viksit Bharat' and 'Viksit Gujarat'.
