MUMBAI: In a bid to support students and tackle unemployment, Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde has announced a new stipend scheme. This scheme promises monthly stipends to students based on their educational qualifications: Rs.6,000 for 12th-pass students, Rs.8,000 for diploma holders, and Rs.10,000 for graduates.

The announcement was made on the auspicious occasion of Ashadhi Ekadashi in Pandharpur. Chief Minister Shinde emphasized that this financial aid is designed to help students gain valuable work experience through apprenticeships, which will ultimately enhance their job prospects.

Key Details of the Stipend Scheme:

  • 12th Pass Students: Rs.6,000 per month
  • Diploma Holders: Rs.8,000 per month
  • Graduates: Rs.10,000 per month

“Our government is committed to creating a skilled workforce,” Shinde stated. “This decision will significantly increase the number of skilled youth in the industry. Students will benefit immensely from this stipend while completing their apprenticeships.”

The scheme, a part of the Mahayuti government’s broader efforts to reduce unemployment, will run for one year. During this period, students will receive financial support as they gain practical experience in factories and other industries. This hands-on experience is expected to improve their employability significantly.

Chief Minister Shinde also highlighted the uniqueness of this initiative, stating that it is the first of its kind in history. He reiterated the government's commitment to supporting the underprivileged, declaring, “The grand coalition government stands with the poor.”

This new initiative aims to create a skilled workforce, reduce unemployment, and provide financial support to students, thus aiding them in acquiring the necessary skills and experience to secure jobs in the future.
