AHMEDABAD: The Gujrat High Court reprimanded the people of the Muslim community who reached the court over the slaughterhouse, saying that they cannot survive without meat for a day or two. In fact, in view of the holy Paryushan festival of the Jain community, the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) had ordered the closure of the slaughterhouse.

Following the order of the AMC, the 'Kul Hind Jamiat-Al Quraysh Action Committee' challenged the corporation's order by filing a petition in the High Court. The petition, filed by Danish Qureshi Razawala and another person on behalf of the committee, said that this abattoir is the only slaughterhouse in Ahmedabad and it does not matter if it is kept open or closed during the festival. Hearing the petition, a single bench of Justice Sandeep Bhatt of the High Court said, 'You people have been running on time? We will not consider it. Whenever a ban is imposed, you people rush to the court. You guys can stop yourself from eating meat for a day or two.'

At the same time, the petitioner told the court that the Standing Committee of the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) in a resolution passed on August 18 has ordered the closure of the slaughterhouse during the Paryushan festival of the Jain community.
