AHMEDABAD: A priest has been arrested for raping a 16-year-old minor girl in Songadh village under Gujarat's Tapi district. His wife has also been arrested for allegedly accompanying the priest in this case of raping the girl. It is alleged that he also made a video of the girl and took photographs during the rape.

According to media reports, this incident is of the month of May. But the victim has now given a complaint in this regard. The police suspect that the girl did not file a complaint about fear of the photo and video going viral. Police say that the victim was constantly being blackmailed by showing her photographs and videos. The priest has been identified as Baliram Kokni and his wife as Anita. Both of them have been arrested.

A complaint was registered in this regard on Tuesday and after some time they were caught. Then on Wednesday, both were produced in the local court. From here the police have been handed over their remand for four days. Now Tapi's DSP RL Mawani is investigating this matter. The investigation till now has revealed that the victim works as a labourer in agriculture and used to go there with her parents. At the same time, the accused priest asked her to meet alone and raped her.
