Kolkata: Trinamool Congress (TMC) national spokesperson Saket Gokhale has been arrested by the Gujarat Police. TMC MP Derek O'Brien has given this information on Twitter. He has claimed that Gokhale reached Jaipur on Monday (December 5) by taking a 9 pm flight from New Delhi, where he was caught by the Gujarat Police. The Gujarat Police were already there to arrest him.

Derek O'Brien tweeted on Tuesday (December 6) informing that the spokesperson was picked up by the police. Brien said late on Monday (December 5) night, Saket Gokhale called his mother to inform her that the police were taking him to Ahmedabad and that he would reach the city by noon on Tuesday. Brien claimed that Gokhale had called his mother, after which the police seized his mobile and other belongings. He claimed that the arrest was made because of Gokhale's tweet regarding the Morbi bridge collapse.

Gokhale is a former RTI activist and is currently a spokesperson of the TMC. He had shared a fabricated news report. He had shared an alleged clipping of a Gujarati newspaper claiming that Rs 30 crore was spent on PM Narendra Modi's visit to Morbi.
