Like every year, the Blitz tournament was held in a very explosive manner as a tradition to determine the preference just before the start of Norway classical chess. India's D Gukesh, playing Norway chess for the first time, also participated in it and on his 17th birthday, he could not do much, but he got a special gift when Gukesh made another achievement in his sports life by defeating world number one and former world champion Magnus Carlsen in the on-the-board match for the first  time.  

According to reports, In the second round of the tournament, Gukesh was facing Carlsen with black pawns and in the marathon match that lasted 97 moves, he defeated Carlsen in the pawn and horse endgame. After this defeat, Carlsen also smiled and congratulated Gukesh. In the first round, Gukesh will face Black Mohoro and will now face Alireza Firouza of France.

According to reports, their match ended in a draw and Gukesh finished third, while USA's Samuel Sevian finished second on the basis of a better tie-break by scoring six points in the final round draw with  compatriot Oprin Grigori. Among other Indian players, Nihal Sarin remained at 9th, Praggnanandhaa 15th and Adhiban Bhaskaran 18th on the basis of tiebreak with 5.5 points.
