Forest Department team reached Maharashtra, makes strategy to face leopards

Mumbai: To reduce the conflict between humans and Leopard, some time ago, the team of forest officials of the state of Maharashtra has admitted that a change in attitude is necessary to reduce this conflict. It is better to remove Leopard from the area or to adopt other methods to tell people how they can reduce this loss. This is called by the authorities as human management instead of wild life management. The officials of Sanjay Gandhi National Park in Maharashtra had to face many cases of Guldar and human conflict.

At the same time, it has been found in a report that working under the strategy, the park administration has overcome this problem. A team of 20 officers including divisional forest officers from Uttarakhand visited this national park. The team returned from Maharashtra and now submitted its report to the Chief Wildlife Guardian.

Correct identification of the problem is necessary: According to the report, the Sanjay Park administration made the people aware, took all the concerned parties together, provided necessary equipment to the forest personnel. The team admitted that there are variations in Uttarakhand and Maharashtra, but still the basic problem is the same.

These suggestions:

1. Correct identification of the problem is necessary: In which areas wildlife are more active, why are they moving out of the forest area?

2. Senior and experienced officers should lead and strategize. Once a strategy is formed, it should be used.

3. Departmental team should be strengthened. Rescue centers, equipment and other resources should be sufficient.

4. Focus on human management instead of wildlife management. For example, people should be told that there is enough light at the residence, keep distance from the habitat of Guldar, etc.

5. Basic research is also important. For example, has there been a shortage of food for any particular wildlife in the forest.
