Gulshan Kumar was born on 5 May 1951 in New Delhi. His father used to run a juice shop in Delhi and Gulshan also used to help his father in this work. However, he was also fond of singing. To fulfill this hobby, he entered the world of music and made his mark.
Gulshan Kumar's journey is very interesting. In the 70s, the era of cassettes had started in India. Then Gulshan Kumar bought a shop selling cassette audio and started his work. He also started singing devotional bhajans and started selling songs to people by filling them in empty cassettes. He used to get 25 rupees for one cassette.
Gulshan Kumar soon established himself in the world of music. After this, he started 'Super Cassettes Industries', which is today known as T-Series. T-Series is today India's largest music company, whose value is about Rs 3 thousand crores. Today it is run by Gulshan Kumar's son Bhushan Kumar.
Gulshan Kumar was a great devotee of Lord Shiva and Mata Vaishno Devi. He gave voice to many famous bhajans. His company T-Series got great recognition from devotional songs. After this, a film named 'Lal Dupatta Malmal Ka' was produced under T-Series, which was released in the year 1989. Till now T-Series has produced many films.

Gulshan Kumar is no longer among us. He died a painful death in 1997. He was shot dead by underworld goons with 16 bullets outside Mumbai's Jiteshvar Mahadev temple.
