Brilliant actor Guru Dutt was a person whose first choice was never acting, but still people believed in his simple, sensitive and natural acting. In Bollywood, he has worked in several films and earned name and fame. He has also directed several Bollywood films. He was one of the finest artists to be exemplified by the actor. Born on July 9, 1925 in Bengaluru, Guru Dutt's real name was Vasant Kumar Shivshankar Padukone. His childhood was extremely painful. Despite being good at studies, he could never go to college because of the poor economic condition of the family. He was interested in literature and had a good understanding of music, which is reflected in all his films.

Guru Dutt was active in Bollywood from 1944 to 1964. During this time, he gave several excellent films. Some films acted themselves, while some only directed.

He was considered the best director in 100 years of cinema.  The film 'Pyasa', directed by Guru Dutt, is one of the 100 best films in the world.

People close to him say that Guru Dutt was never satisfied with his work. He made many good films, became very famous, but always wanted to do more. His thirst for creativity never diminished.

Few people know about Guru Dutt that he was a good dancer. He started his film career as a choreographer in Prabhat Films. He was also a writer. He wrote several stories, which appeared in the English magazine 'Illustrated Weekly of India'.

He married singer Geeta Dutt in 1953. Guru Dutt's son Arun Dutt, the producer of classic films like 'Pyasa' and 'Flower of Paper', says he often lived quiet and serious. But his mind was always like a child. He used to fly kites, fish and photography. Guru Dutt also enjoyed farming.

His first feature film, 'Baji' (1951), was under the banner of Dev Anand's Navketan Films. Then came the second successful film , Jal (1952), which included the same stars (Dev Anand and Geeta Bali). Guru
