New Delhi: The Centre's Modi government has decided to celebrate the 400th Prakashotsav of the ninth Sikh guru Sriguru Teg Bahadur in a grand manner. A 70-member high-level committee headed by PM Modi has also been constituted on Saturday to commemorate the upcoming festival on April 1 next year. The committee will take all decisions relating to the event.
The committee's functions include guiding the commemoration, in addition to Prakashotsav policies, plans, programmes and supervision and guidance, besides setting broad dates for all festival-related events. The members of the committee include Former PM Manmohan Singh besides Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, Union Ministers Rajnath Singh, Amit Shah, Nitin Gadkari, Nirmala Sitharaman, Hardeep Singh Puri, CM Amrendra Singh of Punjab and CM of Haryana, Bihar, UP.
Mamata Banerjee of West Bengal, CM Palaniswamy of TamilNadu, CM Uddhav Thackeray of Maharashtra, CM Trivendra Singh Rawat of Uttarakhand, CM Jairam Thakur of Himachal Pradesh, Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik and CM Ashok Gehlot of Rajasthan have also been included. Congress veteran leader Ghulam Nabi Azad, Akali Dal leader Parkash Singh Badal, Sukhbir Singh Badal have also been replaced among other members of the committee.
