UNITED NATIONS: UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has expressed "grave worry" over the situation at the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant in southern Ukraine.

"I have asked everybody concerned to use common sense and reason and refrain from taking any measures that could endanger the physical integrity, safety, or security of the nuclear plant," he said in a statement on Thursday.
Ukraine and Russia have traded allegations over a strike at the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power station, which is one of Europe's largest atomic power complexes and generates a quarter of Ukraine's total electricity, according to the Xinhua news agency.

Guterres said in his statement that the UN continues to fully support the International Atomic Energy Agency's (IAEA) important work and efforts to ensure the safe operation of the Zaporizhzhia plant.

"I urge the parties to grant the IAEA mission rapid, secure, and unrestricted access to the site," he continued.
Instead of debating ludicrous suggestions like establishing a no-fly zone over the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power station, Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova suggested on Wednesday that the IAEA should visit the plant.

According to Zakharova, Russia has requested a meeting of the United Nations Security Council to discuss the shelling of the Zaporizhzhia facility, and the international community should conduct a thorough assessment of the situation.
