New Delhi: The countdown to the country's general budget has already begun. The traditional Halwa ceremony will be held on Saturday by the Finance Ministry. Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, Minister of State for Finance Anurag Thakur, Secretary, Ministry of Finance, and other senior officials will participate in the event to be held in North Block. The country's budget-2021 will be presented on February 1. However, earlier reports were that the Halwa ceremony would not be held this year.

According to the information, the halwa ceremony will be held for the budget today. Officials said, after the function, all employees involved in the budget formulation will be kept in the basement of North Block for 10 days till the budget is presented. The budget team is not in touch with anyone after the halwa ceremony until the budget is ready. They even cut off contact with their family.

The first phase of the budget session will begin on January 29, which ends on February 15. The second session of the budget will continue from March 8 to April 8. The budget session will be held on 29th January with the President's Address. The budget will be presented on February 1. Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Prahlad Joshi informed that the second phase of the budget session will be held from March 8 to April 8. He said the corona protocol will be essentially taken care of during the session.
