Ajit, who has ruled in cinema for a long time in Hindi cinema, is still known by the audience. Ajit, born January 27, 1922, was named Hamid Ali Khan. But in films, he was known as Ajit. He was interested in acting since childhood. His father Bashir Khan worked in Nizam's army in Hyderabad. Ajit had his elementary education in Warangal district of Andhra Pradesh. In 1946, he prepared his film from the film Shahe Mistra 1946.

From 1946 to 1956, he struggled to create his own identity. Though he acted as a hero in the film Innocent, he preferred to play the role of a villain after a few films. He was a popular producer-director. Br Chopra's film, starring in the new round, made his acting mark. He also drew attention to the small role in the film Mughal-e- Azam.

In 1973, he made his place in villainy by introducing his talents in films like Zanjeer, Yaadon Ki Baraat, Samjhauta, Kahani Kismat Ki and Jugnoo. He was recognised as a lion in Subhash Ghai's film Kalcharan.
