Bhagyashree Patwardhan, who became a superstar in Hindi cinema with her naive acting and her debut film, is a famous personality till date. She was born on 23 February 1969 in the royal family of Sangli, Maharashtra. Bhagyashree's father Srimanta Vijay Singh Rao Patwardhan has been the king of Sangli. She is the eldest of three children. Her two sisters are named Madhuvanti and Poornima. Bhagyashree started her career with the television serial Kachhi Dhoop. She was given a chance in acting by Amol Palekar, close to her family.

She acted for Honi Anhoni, Kisse Mian Biwi Ke and others. She also gained popularity in the year 1989 with her debut film Maine Pyaar Kiya. Starring Salman Khan and Bhagyashree, the film was released under the banner of Rajshree Production. The film also played an important role for Suraj Barjatya alongside Bhagyashree and Salman in the terms of success. However, due to various reasons, Bhagyashree decided to stay away from films and settle down after this film. She is married to Himalaya Dasani.

She abstained from acting for some time after the marriage, but later she did films like Casey Bokadia's film Kaid Mein Hai Bulbul, Payal etc. with her husband Himalaya in 1992. She also acted in Ghar Aaya Mera Pardesi. She then opted out of films in the 90s. She then returned to television and acted in a few serials. She made a comeback in the year 2001 with Hello Girls, Janani, Humko Deewana Kar Gaye, Red Alert The War Within and others. Although Bhagyashree's films were not much of a hit, her return was encouraged by the public.
