President Ram Nath Kovind had failed IAS exam twice

Ram Nath Kovind was sworn in as the 14th President of India a few months ago, but his experience of politics and governance is of great use during the president's tenure. Today, Kovind is celebrating his 74 birthday, Ram Nath Kovind was born on October 1, 1945 at village Parakh in Derapur Tehsil, Kanpur. He belongs to Kori caste. The president's election was considered to be of great importance to his Dalit class.

He has a degree in Law after receiving elementary education. He did his studies from Kanpur University. Thereafter, he was preparing for the IAS exam. But twice he did not succeed. In the third time, he passed the entrance test, but they did not get the IAS post. Then he went on to study law. He was a central government lawyer in the Delhi High Court. From 1980 to 1993, he had the opportunity to practice in the Supreme Court on behalf of the Standing Council of the central government.

He was elected Rajya Sabha MP from Uttar Pradesh in the year 1994. He received the post of Rajya Sabha MP for 2 consecutive times. In the Rajya Sabha, Kovind got an important post from the Scheduled Caste and Tribal Parliamentary Committee, the Ministry of Home Affairs Parliamentary Committee, the Parliamentary Committee on Social Justice and empowerment, the Law and Justice Parliamentary Committee and the Rajya Sabha chairman.

Kovind was holding important positions of various central educational institutions including IIM, Kolkata board member and he had the opportunity to work as a member of the management board at Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar University. He used to work for SCs, STs, minorities, women. He took important steps to educate the people. He was also the BJP's national spokesperson and governor of Bihar. He has a long experience of work at Raj Bhavan.
