T20 World Cup: There is still one day left to make changes in the playing 15 squads ahead of the upcoming T20 world cup. That's what the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has made some changes in the 15 men squad for the T20 World Cup. Medium pace bowler Shardul Thakur has been added to the squad instead of Axar Patel because of his tremendous all-around performance in IPL this year. With this, Akshar has been sent to the list of 3 standby players instead of Lord Shardul. This is proclaimed by the chief selection committee of Indian cricket yesterday.
The selectors had stated the team for the T20 World Cup on 9 September last month. There were 15 members who decided. However, following the IPL phase 2, the performance of some players was a subject of concern. In view of this, these changes have been made by the selector. However, the selectors have kept Hardik Pandya in the team, who is struggling with poor form after injury. At the same time, Ishan Kishan and Suryakumar Yadav also survived to make it to the playing 15 squads with solid innings in the last some matches.
The new squad includes 3 batsmen, 3 wicketkeepers, 3 all-rounders and 6 bowlers. Hardik hasn't bowled a single over in the IPL phase 2 and that's a matter of concern for the selectors. This is why Shardul has been added to the team as an all rounder. Hardik has been included in the team only as a batsman. Although Rohit Sharma said earlier that Hardik will begin bowling soon, but till now he has not been fit. In such a situation, Shardul can be added to the playing-11 as of his tremendous form. Along with bowling, Shardul can also bat aggressively. He has taken 18 wickets in 15 matches in IPL 2021 at an economy rate of 8.75. Shardul has so far taken 64 wickets in 60 matches in IPL. And recently he has been in enormous form.
