The month of Sawan is a month in which many festivals come. Apart from Sawan Monday, these festivals include Raksha Bandhan, Nag Panchami, and Hariyali Amavasya. Hariyali Teej is another sacred festival of the month of Sawan. Every year Shukla Teej of Sawan month is celebrated as Hariyali Teej.

The holy festival of Hariyali Teej is coming this time on 23 July. According to Hindi Panchang, Hariyali Teej will start from 7.23 pm on 22 July. Tritiya Tithi will conclude on the next day i.e. 23 July at 5.4 pm. On this day women observe fast for their husband's longevity.

Legendary significance of Hariyali Teej festival

This festival is celebrated all over India. However, in the North Indian states, people celebrate the festival of Teej with great pomp. According to Shiva Purana, Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati were reunited on this day and that is why this festival is celebrated. Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati are worshiped on this day. On the day of Hariyali Teej, such a belief is also prevalent that on this day, married women should wear their maiden clothes and also use only the items from the same place in the makeup. Along with married women, unmarried girls can also observe fast of Teej.
