Hartalika Teej: The fast of Haratalika Teej is one of the most special fast for women and bachelor girls. Hartalika Teej is a very important festival. This Teej is considered to be the best among all. Women observe this fast mainly in UP, Uttarakhand, Bihar, Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, and Rajasthan. However, it is seen all over the country. Teej of Shukla Paksha of Bhado month is celebrated as Hartalika Teej in India. Women and girls observe Nirjala fast on this day.

Worship Stuff of Hartalika Teej ...

Many things are required in the worship of Hartalika Teej. Panchamrit, ghee, curd, sugar, milk, honey, sweets, etc. are offered to Goddess Parvati and Lord Shiva. The whole item of Suhag is purchased for the Goddess. These include kajal, kumkum, sindoor, comb, mahaur, mehndi, lipistic, mirror, comb, bindi, bangle, nettle, alata etc.

Plate for placing idol of Shiva-Parvati, wooden slab or pata for worship and a red or yellow clean cloth, coconut, water-filled ghat or urn, mango leaves, lamp for aarti, Mud, and panchamrit for the manufacture of incense sticks, betel leaves, incense, bananas, betel nuts, bell peppers, janeu, shami leaves, sandalwood and gourd for raising Shiva.

Importance of Hartalika Teej ...

On this day women observe fast for the long life of their husbands while virgin girls keep this fast to get a suitable groom. Goddess Parvati had also done hard penance to get Shiva, then pleased with her penance and devotion, Shiva accepted Goddess Parvati as a wife.
