CHANDIGARH: Anil Vij, the health minister for Haryana, announced on Friday that a statewide mock drill will be condiucted on December 27 in response to the potential resurgence of Covid-19.
In addition, every hospital will have flu corners set up. The RT-PCR test will also be conducted to check for the flu and other serious acute respiratory infections.
The minister virtually briefed Mansukh Mandaviya, the union minister for health and family welfare, about the state's readiness for COVID-19.
He said that the Central government has moved quickly to combat the new type due to the risk of a resurgence in Covid-19 infection.
"We have given the department's officials directives at the state level. When a respiratory infection is extremely severe, the RTPCR test will also be performed." 26 RTPCR labs, according to the government, are operating in 22 districts. All healthcare personnel are required to wear masks and gloves while doing their duties. The department is using the test-track-treat and vaccination approach to combat the infection, and instructions have been made to perform genome sequencing.
The minister said that the first vaccination dosage has been given to 103% of the state's population and the second to 86%. 10% of the population has received the prophylactic dose.
He also sought .002 lakh more Covishield vaccine doses to continue the vaccination process, adding that the department has a storage of about 1.40 lakh vaccination doses, including 1.39 lakh Covaxin vaccine doses.
