NEW DELHI: The Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) and the Bajrang Dal have jointly announced demonstrations at 23 locations across the national capital to express their protest against the recent communal violence that unfolded in Nuh, Palwal, and Gurugram districts of Haryana, tragically resulting in six fatalities.

Out of the 23 planned protests by the VHP and its subsidiary, the BD, 18 were scheduled to take place before 11 a.m. on August 2. However, it's worth noting that a senior advocate, Chander Uday Singh, has filed a plea in the Supreme Court seeking an injunction to halt the demonstrations and rallies organized by these right-wing groups.

While most of the protests conducted by the VHP were peaceful, there were significant and impactful demonstrations held at Delhi-Badarpur border, Uttam Nagar, and Brahmpuri localities, where esteemed VHP leaders passionately addressed the gathered crowds.

As of the latest report, there have been no incidents of law and order disturbances at any of the demonstrations.

Additionally, a couple of protests are also planned in the evening, scheduled between 6 to 8 p.m.

The police have confirmed that the right-wing groups did not seek permission for these protests, including those in northeast Delhi, where communal violence erupted back in 2020.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (PRO) Sunam Nalwa asserted, "In light of the recent violence in some districts of Haryana near Delhi, comprehensive security measures have been implemented at all sensitive locations in the capital, and additional police forces have been deployed where necessary. Any attempts to jeopardize Delhi's security and communal harmony will be dealt with firmly and decisively."
