HC directed the GHMC for failure to dig RWH pits in summer

Hyderabad, A division bench of the Hyderabad High Court on Thursday directed the authorities of Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation to furnish the names of persons to be accommodated in the proposed committee to oversee the construction of water harvesting structures in GHMC limits.

The bench comprising acting chief justice Dilip B Bhosale and justice P Naveen Rao was dealing with a PIL filed by S Vaidehi Reddy, a resident of city, seeking to direct the Telangana government, GHMC and other respondent authorities to ensure strict enforcement of GO Ms No 350 dated June 9, 2009 adopted in the AP Building Rules 2012. It pertained to RWH structures for all buildings wherever applicable in Hyderabad city.

On Thursday, GHMC counsel P Kesava Rao submitted that the corporation has decided to constitute a committee with experts advice from the Administrative Staff College of India.

At this juncture, senior counsel D Prakash Reddy, appearing for the petitioner, submitted that there is a professor in JNTU Hyderabad who has an expertise in rain water harvesting management and he may also be taken into the committee.
