New Delhi: The Netflix originals in India, 'Sacred Games' landed into a controversy within days of its premiere. It has been talk of the town after a Congress supporter lodged a complaint against actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Netflix and producer of the show, reportedly. In the complainant there are allegations that the makers have abused former Congress Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi on the show.

A petition was lodged seeking the removal of certain portion from the web series. As per ANI, the Delhi High Court has noticed that 'actors cannot be held liable for dialogues'. Now The court will hear the matter on Thursday (July 19, 2018).

“Netflix 'Sacred Games' case: Delhi High Court says actors cannot be held liable for the dialogues. All 8 episodes have already been aired. Nothing new will be aired. Court to now hear the matter on Thursday”.ANI tweeted.

The plea lodged by lawyer Nikhil Bhalla through advocate Shashank Garg .The plea sought the removal of two portions that he maintained "tarnished" the image of the former Prime Minister, According IANS report.

Meanwhile, Rahul Gandhi tweeted recently and reacting to the ongoing controversy as saying:

“BJP/RSS believe the freedom of expression must be policed & controlled. I believe this freedom is a fundamental democratic right.My father lived and died in the service of India. The views of a character on a fictional web series can never change that.#SacredGames”.
