New Delhi Former Prime Minister of India HD Devegowda tested positive for COVID-19 on On Saturday. His office notified that he had no symptoms and that his health is stable.
BS Yediyurappa, the former Chief Minister of Karnataka, verified the news and wished him a swift recovery. "I hope that senior leader and former Prime Minister HD Deve Gowda would soon recover from Coronavirus," he stated in a Kannada tweet today.
From June 1996 to April 1997, HD Devegowda was India's 12th Prime Minister. From 1994 to 1996, he served as the 14th Chief Minister of Karnataka. He is currently a Rajya Sabha Member of Parliament.
He was born into a poor agricultural family and joined the Indian National Congress in 1953, where he served till 1962. During the Emergency, he was imprisoned. In 1994, he was elected President of the Janata Dal state unit, and he is credited with helping the party win in Karnataka. From 1994 to 1996, he was the 14th Chief Minister of Karnataka.
