Ludhiana, Health department inspected areas following monsoon on monday, areas where there is a higher possibility of mosquitoes breeding and heightening the risk of an outbreak of dengue or malaria. Two cases of dengue have already been reported in the city in this season.

According to Ludhiana district epidemiologist Dr Ramesh Kumar, "teams were already on work and they had identified areas like Transport Nagar, Tyre Market, the workshop of the bus stand, and some others where inspection will be conducted in regular intervals."

"These were the areas where chances of finding larvae were more as water-logging took place at these areas every year", said Dr. Kumar.

He added that, "residents had been advised to keep their surroundings clean and not allow accumulation of water near their houses."
