NEW DELHI: Union Health Minister Dr Mansukh Mandaviya on Tuesday visited Safdarjung Hospital to review a mock drill carried out to assess Covid-19 management preparedness.

In light of the recent spike in Covid cases across the globe, particularly China, India is closely monitoring the pandemic situation. Citizens have been urged to adopt Covid-appropriate behaviour,  maintain physical distance, wear masks in crowded places and get vaccinated.

The Center has instructed all states and UTs to organise simulated drills at all medical institutions, including designated Covid health facilities across the nation on December 27 due to an increase in Covid cases in various countries.

The health minister Mandaviya  visited the hospital to review the preparedness against Covid pandemic in case of another wave. The objective of this exercise was to ensure operational readiness of these health facilities.
"To ensure that patients receive the best care possible, mock drills are being conducted today at all Covid hospitals across the nation. If the number of cases increases, the government is also preparing to fight the pandemic ", the health minister said at the time.

The Center had instructed that during this exercise, emphasis should be placed on the geographical representation of health facility availability across all districts, bed capacities such as isolation beds, oxygen-supported isolation beds, ICU beds, and ventilator-supported beds, as well as the best possible human resource availability.
