NEW DELHI:The eSanjeevani e-health initiative by the Union Health ministry has surpassed 14.17 crore teleconsultations since its launch in April 2021 until July 26 this year. Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya shared this remarkable achievement with the Rajya Sabha on Tuesday.

This telemedicine application facilitates both doctor-to-doctor and patient-to-doctor consultations, ensuring seamless healthcare services. Launched on April 13, 2021, the application operates on a hub and spoke model, connecting doctors, including specialists, to patients in Health and Wellness Centres (HWCs) situated in rural areas, bridging the healthcare divide.

eSanjeevani's OPD module extends its services to people residing in remote and rural regions, reaching those in need. As of July 26, 2023, a staggering total of 14,17,81,384 teleconsultations have been successfully completed. Among these, 57,32,954 teleconsultations have been provided in Maharashtra, with special care given to 9,54,835 senior citizens and 31,67,798 women, showcasing the dedication to equitable healthcare.

The Union Health ministry proactively supports the implementation of digital health initiatives, including telemedicine services across the nation. To strengthen health IT infrastructure and internet connectivity, financial assistance is extended to all states and union territories under the National Health Mission.

Recognizing the importance of raising awareness about telemedicine services, the government has undertaken initiatives such as short videos, brochures, and pamphlets, thoughtfully presented in local languages and disseminated through social media platforms. These efforts aim to create awareness and educate the masses in rural areas about the accessibility and benefits of telemedicine.

In conclusion, eSanjeevani has undoubtedly made substantial strides in improving healthcare accessibility, and with continued efforts and support, it will continue to transform the lives of countless individuals across India.
