Patna: In a heart-wrenching incident, two young brothers lost their lives in a devastating fire that engulfed their home in Sahani Tola of Haat Gachi, located in Supaul Bazaar, Darbhanga. The fire, sparked by the stove, claimed the lives of Ashok Sahni's sons, Ankush (01) and Ankit (01). Their mother, Geeta Devi, suffered severe burns and is currently receiving treatment at DMCH. The incident occurred late on Wednesday night, sending shockwaves through the community.
Eyewitnesses recounted that the family had retired for the night after dinner around 10 pm. However, as they awaited a nearby wedding procession, flames were spotted emanating from Ashok's house. Despite frantic efforts to douse the fire, Ankush tragically perished on the spot, while Ankit succumbed to his injuries during hospital treatment.
The devastating news halted the nearby wedding festivities, with authorities swiftly offering assistance to the grieving family. SDO Umesh Kumar Bharti provided immediate relief in the form of a Rs 12,000 check and polythene to the victims' family. Additionally, a Rs 4 lakh ex-gratia grant was extended to the fathers of both deceased children.
The community was plunged into mourning upon learning of the tragedy, with condolences pouring in for the bereaved family. The sight of grieving relatives, including the aunts Sita Devi, Amala Devi, and Geeta Devi, moved onlookers to tears. The incident has left Ashok Sahni's family devastated, with the loss of the young brothers leaving a profound impact on the community.
