Over 8 districts in North Karnataka were heavily affected by the torrential rain and water. Almost 20,000 people from three districts of Maharashtra were moved to safer places whereas in Hyderabad, the rain and floods have claimed more than 50 lives and Telangana government has announced of more than INR 5000 crore loss due to the rain. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on October 15 said low pressure over south-central Maharashtra and south Konkan is likely to move over the Arabian Sea and intensify into a depression in the next 48 hours and is expecting rain in ghat areas of Maharashtra, Konkan and south Gujarat during the next two days as much as 20CM per day, winds reaching 25-35KMPH may reach 45KMPH during the next 12 hours.
The Karnataka State Natural Disaster Management Centre has informed that the floodgates of all the major dams have been opened which results in flood. Yadgir, Raichur, Ballari, Bidar, Vijayapura, Bagalkote, Belagavi, Dakshina Kannada, Udupi, Uttara Kannada, Gadag, Koppal, Haveri and Dharwad were the worst affected due to floods and looks like island. The Karnataka Disaster Management Authority has informed lose of 515 animal lives, in 36 relief camps opened by the district administration 4782 people have been shifted. The Karnataka Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa is arranging a review meeting with the district administrations and the necessary funds for the relief measures will be released.
The Disaster Response Force (DRF) team is working continuously to normalize the city. In Andhra Pradesh, in 64 relief camps around 44,000 people were put up and 45,000 food packets were provided. National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) teams are camped at Osmanabad, Solapur, Pandharpur and Baramati to carry relief works. Pune, Solapur, Sangli, Satara and Kolhapur in western Maharashtra have heavy rainfall and at least 27 people have died in rain-related incidents in Solapur, Sangli and Pune districts over 20,000 people have been shifted to safer places in these three districts.
