NEW DELHI: The Delhi government has declared a holiday for all private and government schools on Thursday due to severe rainfall. Education Minister Atishi shared the news on social media, explaining that schools will remain closed to address the impact of Wednesday’s heavy rain and the forecast of continued downpours. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has warned that Delhi is experiencing clouds converging from all directions, with widespread light to moderate rainfall expected and intense rain rates of 3-5 cm/hr possible in the next two hours.

Uttarakhand: The Uttarakhand government has also announced a school closure following the IMD's forecast of very heavy rainfall from July 31 to August 3. An orange alert has been issued, and all schools from classes 1 to 12 will be closed on August 1. The IMD expects heavy rain to continue across the state until August 3.
