Shimla: Most parts of Himachal Pradesh have a cold winter on Friday and the minimum temperature remains below the freezing point. However, the weather will remain mainly dry and there is no chance of snowfall later this week. Those concerned with the tourism industry are concerned, as most popular tourist destinations are untouched by snowfall, which can reduce the New Year's excitement and feeling of snowfall among tourists.

Shimla, the state capital, recorded night temperature of 1.1 degree Celsius, while the popular tourist destination Manali recorded a low of minus three degrees. According to an official of the Meteorological Department here, Shimla and its nearby tourist destinations like Kufri, Fagu and Narkanda, Kasauli, Chail, Manali, Dharamshala, Palampur and Dalhousie can remain dry and sunny till January 5. After this, rain and snowfall is expected.

The official said that "there is a possibility of snowfall or rain in the state between 6 to 8 January". Earlier, the weather bureau had forecast snowfall in most parts of the state from January 3-4. Keylong in Lahaul-Spiti district was the coldest place in the state with a temperature of minus 13 degrees.
