Coonoor: 13 persons died while Group Captain Varun Singh survived a helicopter accident at Coonoor in Nilgiri district of Tamil Nadu on Wednesday. He is currently fighting for life at a military hospital in Bengaluru. According to Karnataka CM Baswaraj Bommai, expert doctors are engaged in his treatment.
"I met Captain Varun Singh, the survivor of the helicopter accident at the Command Hospital in Bengaluru. They are getting better treatment from expert doctors. I wish him a speedy recovery. He has also informed that action has been directed against those who have made derogatory tweets against Chief of Defence Staff Rawat.
He also said, "Some persons with distorted minds have tweeted derogatory, celebratory messages about the death of CDS Bipin Rawat. The Police Chief has been directed to take legal action against these elements. CDS General Bipin Rawat and his wife Madhulika Rawat and 11 other soldiers were killed in a helicopter accident near Coonoor in Tamil Nadu on December 8. The Mi-17V5 helicopter had left Sulur for Wellington and was carrying 14 persons including a crew member. 13 out of 14 persons died. Only Indian Air Force Group Captain Varun Singh survived the accident.
