Lebanese officials are deeply saddened by the loss of a top commander in Hezbollah's Radwan force due to an apparent Israeli strike. Wissam al-Tawil, identified as the deputy head of a unit within the elite force, was killed alongside another fighter when their car was hit in Majdal Selm, Lebanon. Security sources describe this incident as a significant blow to the terror group, indicating potential escalations in the region.

In another development, during his annual State of the World address to the diplomatic community at the Vatican, Pope Francis expressed concern about the ongoing violence in Israel and Palestine. He specifically condemned the October 7 attack on Israelis, where numerous innocent people were injured, killed, and taken hostage. Although he didn't directly name Hamas, he emphasized his disapproval of the act.

Pope Francis also touched upon the situation in Gaza, mentioning that the Israeli military's strong response following the attack resulted in the deaths of many civilians. He highlighted the concerning increase in conflicts globally, likening them to a potential global conflict gradually emerging from several regional conflicts.

Reports from Lebanese sources indicate that Wissam al-Tawil, the deputy leader of a unit within Hezbollah's elite Radwan force, was known for his significant role in managing the group's operations in the southern regions. His death, along with another Hezbollah fighter, occurred following an airstrike targeting their vehicle in the Lebanese village of Majdal Selm. Security sources expressed concerns about potential repercussions in the area due to this loss, anticipating heightened tensions as a result.
