Kochi: The Kerala High Court has refused to stay further action in the sedition case registered against Lakshadweep filmmaker Ayesha Sultana. Ayesha had sought quashing of the first case filed by the Kavaratti police against her in the petition. Considering the petition on Friday, the high court said the investigation of the case is at an early stage and may require more time to investigate.

Refusing to stay the action, the court has also directed the Lakshadweep administration to provide detailed information on the investigation. During the hearing of the case, the Lakshadweep administration's counsel opposed the petition and told the court that the investigation into the case is in the early stages. Ayesha was granted anticipatory bail in the case by the high court last week.

Granting anticipatory bail, Justice Ashok Menon had said that his statement does not show anything that is against the national interest nor does it appear against any person or any group. After the case was registered against her, Ayesha had said that she had not done anything against the country so far and would continue her struggle until the islanders got justice.
