WASHINGTON: Hillary Clinton, the former US Secretary of State, has been diagnosed with Covid-19 and is experiencing minor symptoms.
"I've experienced some light cold symptoms but am feeling well," the 74-year-old, who was also the Democratic presidential contender in 2016, tweeted on Tuesday evening, adding that she has been vaccinated. "I'm grateful for the protection immunizations can provide against deadly illness now more than ever," she said.
According to a follow-up tweet, her husband, former US President Bill Clinton, tested negative on Tuesday and is "feeling fine." Hillary Clinton wrote that Bill Clinton, 75, is "quarantining until our household is entirely in the clear."
The comments occurred only hours after White House press secretary Jen Psaki disclosed a positive test result, her second in as many months. "Thanks to the vaccine, I've only had mild symptoms," Psaki said in a statement, adding that US Vice President Joe Biden tested negative by PCR test on Tuesday.
Hillary and Psaki are the latest in a long line of high-profile Americans to be infected with Covid, including former US President Barack Obama and second gentleman Doug Emhoff, husband of US Vice President Kamala Harris.
