Himachal Pradesh CM Discusses Flood Aftermath and Relief Package with PM Modi at G20 Summit

Shimla: Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister, Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, who attended the G20 Summit dinner in New Delhi, revealed that he had addressed the severe aftermath of torrential rain in the state during his conversation with Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday night. Sukhu also took the opportunity to request a special disaster relief package for Himachal Pradesh and emphasized the necessity of categorizing this calamity as a 'national disaster,' underlining the urgency of the situation. He shared this information on X (formerly Twitter) on Sunday.


Sukhu was among the chief ministers from Opposition-ruled states who were present at the dinner. Other chief ministers in attendance included Mamata Banerjee of West Bengal and Hemant Soren of Jharkhand. Assam Chief Minister Himanta Sarma also posted a group photo on X, featuring UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak along with Union Minister Piyush Goyal, Haryana CM Manohar Lal Khattar, and Sukhu, among others. Sunak engaged in pleasant interactions with Union Minister for Science, Technology, and Space Jitendra Singh during Ratri Bhoj par Samvad.

Special Invitees List

A total of 170 special invitees were listed for the G20 dinner hosted by President Murmu. The event was attended by President Murmu, Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar with his wife Sudesh Dhankhar, Prime Minister Modi, former President Ram Nath Kovind, and former Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu.

Apart from foreign leaders and heads of delegations, cabinet and state ministers, central government secretaries, and other distinguished guests were invited to the grand dinner. The G20 World Leaders Summit took place in New Delhi from September 9 to 10.
