Amritsar: The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has announced the name of its chief ministerial candidate for the upcoming Assembly elections in Punjab. Party National President and Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal has declared Bhagwant Mann as the CM face through public voting. Bhagwant Mann was appointed as the President of Punjab Pradesh Unit by AAP last year. Mann is currently the only AAP Lok Sabha MP across the country.  Bhagwant Mann also won the Lok Sabha elections in 2014.

Bhagwant Mann himself points out that he lost a lot because of his coming into politics. Bhagwant Mann and his wife divorced in 2015 itself. Even their children don't talk to him anymore. In an interview, Bhagwant Mann himself said, 'I don't even talk to my children on the phone anymore. Maybe I couldn't give my family time, so I had to separate from my wife. We divorced by mutual consent.' In the same interview, Bhagwant Mann said that he has not spoken to children and wife on the phone for many years. So now he consider Punjab as his entire family.

Bhagwant Mann was once a famous comedian of the country. He participated in many shows and made a name for himself. He then stepped into politics and joined the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP). Bhagwant Mann, 48, is survived by a boy and a girl who now lives abroad and has taken citizenship there. Bhagwant Mann has become Parliament for the second time in a row from Sangrur Lok Sabha seat. Bhagwant Mann was also accused of coming to Parliament a few times after drinking alcohol. After which he vowed at a public meeting at a AAP that he would never drink alcohol anymore.

Bhagwant Mann had come on stage with his mother and swore by his mother that, 'Maa Kasam, I have completely given up alcohol from January 1 and will never touch it further.' The incident took place in January 2019 and was fully reported by Delhi Deputy CM Manish Sisodia himself in a tweet.
