NEW DELHI: Mansukh Mandaviya, the union minister for health, adopted 40 tuberculosis (TB) patients from Palitana in Gujarat on Saturday, September 17,  in honour of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's 72nd birthday.

Taking to Twitter, the health minister urged people to adopt TB patients.

"Today, on Prime Minister Narendra Modi's birthday, I adopted 40 TB patients from Palitana, the town where I was born. Let us all participate in Modi Ji's humanitarian work and create a TB-free India together. All of you should also adopt tuberculosis patients: Mandaviya said in a tweet.

As part of the nationwide "Raktdaan Amrit Mahotsav," Mansukh Mandaviya also participated in the blood donation camp at the Safdarjung Hospital in Delhi.

The Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) has decided to adopt over 35,000 tuberculosis patients by giving nutritional support, in keeping with the Prime Minister's aim for the TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan.

Through the "TB Free Workplaces Campaign" project, the Confederation of Indian Industry is closely collaborating with the government in its effort to completely eradicate tuberculosis from India by 2025.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has decided to undertake a year-long programme to eradicate tuberculosis (TB) from the nation. As part of this programme, everyone would adopt and care for a TB patient for a full year, he said.
