New Delhi:- Major film and television studios are offering Hollywood actors more than $1 billion in pay increases and expanded benefits until the SAG-AFTRA union calls for a strike last week, a group representing media companies said Monday.

The Motion Picture and Television Producers Alliance (AMPTP), which is negotiating on behalf of Netflix, Walt Disney, Warner Bros. Discovery and others, said SAG-AFTRA "continues to misinterpret the negotiations" as Stated.

SAG-AFTRA went on strike last Thursday after union negotiators said they could not agree with studios on a new three-year contract with increased benefits and restrictions on the use of images by artificial intelligence.

“The deal, which SAG-AFTRA revoked on July 12, is valued at more than $1 billion in wage increases, pension and health insurance contributions, and residual increases, and includes unique protections throughout its three-year term, including explicit respect for AI,” AMPTP said in a statement.

"It is dishonest at best to claim that SAG-AFTRA is not meeting the needs of member states," AMPTP added.

Early Monday morning, SAG-AFTRA, which represents more than 160,000 actors, stunt performers and more, released a detailed list of its proposals and studio responses under the headline "We are fighting for the survival of the profession."

Among other things, SAG-AFTRA called for a general wage increase of 11% in the first year of the contract to compensate for inflation. According to the union, the studio responded with an offer of 5%.
