New Delhi:- The Hollywood sign celebrates its 100th anniversary. This is one of the most famous monuments in the world. Hollywood is not just a place, it's an industry. Before Hollywood became world famous for its movies, newspaper publisher Harry Chandler built a Hollywoodland sign to advertise his property development. Chandler spent $21,000 on the billboard, which he predicts will only last about a year and a half. The exact date it was first lit, and even the year it was completely erected, has been the subject of historical debate, but many historians mark its 100th anniversary in now.

The Hollywood sign is in a restricted area and it is not allowed to approach or touch it. The closest you can get is the rear and top. The sign is protected by the Los Angeles Police and Fire Department and the Park Rangers.

There have been plans for an aerial tramway near the sign since the 1940s. Nothing has been developed yet. Here are some other recent failed attempts.

In 2017, a gondola ride was proposed by Barry Diller and his wife, Diane von Furstenberg. The $25-30 million gondola is said to carry tourists to the Hollywood sign from the Los Angeles Zoo, four miles east of Warner.

In 2018, Warner Bros. revealed that he is considering funding a $100 million aerial tramway between his Burbank estate and the Hollywood sign in Griffith Park. The company canceled plans for 2021. Hollywood may be associated with the movie industry, but this sign is right next to an early television icon. The Hollywood sign is on Mount Lee, named after Don Lee. Lee was a successful Cadillac salesman in the 1920s and purchased several radio stations in the West in 1926. The first picture dissecting machine (TV) was invented by Philo T. Farnsworth in San Francisco in 1927.

In 1930, Lee saw an opportunity in the early days of television broadcasting. Lee hired a team to develop the emerging television recording, transmission, and reception technologies. W6XAO was broadcast live in December 1931 from a location near Gardena, coming out more than eight years before NBC began airing in New York.

The studio moved out until it bought a 20-acre plot behind the Hollywood sign. When the facility was completed in 1939, it was the tallest television tower in the world. In 1940, it became the first West Coast station to broadcast a live television program from a distance. After that, Mount Wilson became a better transmission site.

The site atop Mount Lee and its large radio tower were eventually operated and owned by the City of Los Angeles.
