It is noteworthy that in the manifesto of Maharashtra assembly elections, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) promised Bharat Ratna to freedom fighter Veer Savarkar. The government has given its response in response to a question asked in this regard in the Lok Sabha. In the information given to the House, the Ministry of Home Affairs did not say anything explicitly about awarding Bharat Ratna to Veer Savarkar, but made it clear that no recommendation is needed for this.
The Ministry of Home Affairs, headed by Amit Shah, has said, 'Recommendations are often received from different sections for the Bharat Ratna award, but this does not require any formal recommendation. From time to time decisions are made about Bharat Ratna. The ministry said that when the time comes, the central government only decides on it.
