Ear Pain is one of the most common problems in India. An earache is a sharp, dull, or burning pain in one or both ears. The pain may last a short time or be ongoing. Related conditions include Otitis media, Swimmer's ear, Malignant otitis externa. Ear pain in adults is less likely to be from an ear infection. Pain that you feel in the ear may be coming from another place, such as your teeth, the joint in your jaw (temporomandibular joint), or your throat. This is called "referred" pain.

Hot and Cold Compress: Hot and cold compress both are helpful to deal with ear pain. A hot cloth held against the ear for 20 minutes may be helpful for pain relief. While cold temperatures can help numb pain and reduce inflammation, a heating pad may relax the muscles and help improve blood flow. Holding an ice pack or cold, damp washcloth to the ear for 20 minutes may help numb ear pain. Adopt the method which is feasible for you.

Exercise: Neck exercise is one of the easiest way to get relief from ear pain as  it can be caused by tense muscles around the ear canal, exerting pressure on the area. Neck exercises might ease the discomfort. For instance, slowly rotate the neck and head, and lift the shoulders up toward the ears; repeat throughout the day. Try these exercise for 15 minutes.

Tea Tree Oil: Tea Tree Oil is used as an alternative of Ear Drops. A couple of drops of hot tea tree oil in the ear per day may ease earache. However, before use in the ear. You can also use sweet almond oil, or another carrier oil, usually 3 to 5 drops in 1 ounce of oil. Even olive oil is also helpful for pain relive.

Change your Sleep Position: In many cases the cause of ear aches is the position of sleep. How you sleep can affect ear pain. Rest with your head on two or more pillows, so your affected ear is higher than the rest of your body. Or if your left ear has an infection, sleep on your right side. Less pressure equals less ear pain. It could be effective, though a few inches may not make a big difference in pressure measurement. But if it makes you feel better.

Chewing Gum: You might be shocked by hearing this but chewing gum is also helpful for ear pain. If your ear pain is due to a change in your ear pressure when you are at high altitudes and in an airplane, then chewing some gum can help lower that pressure and ease your symptoms.
