Hooghly: A shocking case of firing has been reported in Chuchura town of Hooghly District in West Bengal. It is alleged that after Kartik worship immersion, the friend took the man near Ganga Ghat and then shot him in the back with a pipe gun. Deep Mandal, 20, who was shot dead by a friend, jumped into the Ganga water to save his life.
According to reports, Deep was hiding in the cold water of river Ganga all night to save his life. He reached his house by bike in the morning and informed the family about the incident. The family took him to Imambara Sadar Hospital in Chuchura for treatment in rush from where doctors referred him to Medical College Hospital in Kolkata.
It is said that the bullet could not be removed from the man's body. His condition remains critical. Since the case, 21-year-old Raja Biswas, a friend of Deep Mandal, was absconding who has been taken into custody by the police. Several criminal cases are already pending against the accused Raja Bishwas at Chuchura police station. The case pertains to Sandeshwartala Ghat in Chuchura. Both the accused and the injured are from the Ravindranagar area of Chuchura. The victim is a betel nut trader.
