US space agency NASA recently collected rocky samples from Mars. The space agency said on Friday that the rover has received some samples. According to NASA, these samples indicate that there was a time when there was a life-worthy environment present on Jezero Crater. The space agency said these core samples indicate a rock made of lava from volcanoes. It is Basaltic, which is low in silica but high in iron and magnesium.

The same NASA has chosen Jezero Crater for its mission because research has expressed apprehension that there was once water. Now, through new samples, it can be helped to know when this ancient lake was built and when it disappeared. Experts say it also increases the expectation of life here. Looking at the samples taken for the rover and the rocks from which the samples were taken earlier, experts are speculating that the groundwater must have been here for a long time.

Mission program scientist Mitch Shult said that these samples will provide an insight into the sequence of minerals present in rocks and the environmental conditions at the time of their formation. According to the same team of scientists, rock samples have found salts that must have been formed when groundwater changed the original minerals. Salt may have been left after the water steamed. NASA has said that salt may have had water. They can also be used as 'time capsules.' This can explore the climate of Mars and the possibility of life here.
