He says that Maelor's character was important to the show's story and his absence could also affect the story.

Maelor Targaryen is the third child of Aegon and Helena, after Jaehaera and Jaehaerys. Maelor was supposed to play an important part in the Blood and Cheese plot in the first episode, in which Helena had to choose between her two sons. But in the show, Maelor's character was completely removed and Helena only had to choose between Jaehaera and Jaehaerys.

Reason for removing Maelor's character: The producers of 'House of the Dragon' have given the reason for removing Maelor's character. They said that it was difficult to cast a 2-year-old child.
