Look at how 4-Day Workweeks Can Improve Employee Well-Being and Productivity: A study revealed that 4-day workweeks can enhance employees' health and wellbeing and lower the number of sick days. It suggests that the shortened workweek may potentially increase businesses' productivity and profitability. The use of 4-day workweeks is increasing,  but careful planning is necessary to ensure objectives are accomplished.

Workers who are paid the same for fewer days of work are equally as productive as those who work more hours. Also, they'll be less stressed, have fewer sick days, and generally be in better health. This is the advice given to employers by professionals with the 4 Day Week Campaign.

Based on a six-month investigation involving 61 employers in the United Kingdom who cut work hours by 20%, the researchers there came to their conclusions.

Also, sick days were cut by 65% and turnover was reduced by 57%, as per the research on the project conducted at Cambridge University in the United Kingdom and Boston University in the United States.

Brendan Burchell, PhD, a sociologist at the University of Cambridge and research co-author, said: "Before the trial, many questioned whether we would observe a gain in productivity to offset the loss in working time - yet this is exactly what we discovered." "Many employees were eager to increase their own productivity. Lengthy meetings with too many participants were shortened or abandoned entirely, he claimed. Employees actively sought out productivity-enhancing tools and were considerably less likely to pass the time.

At the same time, employer revenues actually grew by an average of more than 1% during the study period. By the end of the pilot programme, 92% of executives at the participating companies said they intended to keep moving from a five to a four-day workweek, with 18 of the 62 companies making the change permanently.
