Kids have a flickering mind. Right now they are with you inside the kitchen and to the very next moment, you found them out there watching their favorite cartoon show or playing with the toys. It becomes really hard to make them stay at the place if you want something to teach them. Their playful mind keeps moving them here and there.

Give them something to do inside the task
Let's suppose you are in the garden teaching your kid some gardening tips. Don't just let them sit and watch you. Give them some little task like pouring water, handle gardening tools, rope the seeds etc. It will keep them engaged and they won't twirl here and there.
Show your interest and be an active part of the task
Your interest plays a major role in your kid's interest in the activity. Suppose you are reading a storybook or something related to the study. keep the fun on with your face expressions and voice changes. It will definitely keep their interest on.
Advice easy tricks
Let the kid try his/her best to the task but the moment s/he strat losing his/her interest, make a move. Tell them how they can accomplish the task in an easy way. Your little advice or we can say help will reinvoke their interest to the task.
