New Delhi: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has crossed the majority mark in the initial trends with the Delhi Assembly election results declared. According to the trend so far, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has led in more than 50 seats. At the same time, Congress has failed to open its account once again in the elections. Whereas this Congress has once ruled the capital for 15 consecutive years at the time of Sheila Dixit.

The election of 1998 was the beginning of the rise of Congress in Delhi, the same year Sheila Dixit became the CM of Delhi. In this election, the Congress had 52 seats out of a total of 70 seats. Whereas BJP had got only 15 seats. After this, Congress again won strongly in the 2003 Delhi Assembly Elections. In that election, the Congress had once again formed the government under the leadership of Sheila Dikshit, having won 47 seats.

The Congress came to power with a third consecutive victory under Sheila Dikshit in the 2008 elections. In this election, Congress got a total of 43 seats. The Congress received nearly 40 percent of the vote. The 2013 election caused a big upset. The rise of the Aam Aadmi Party after the Commonwealth scandal and the Anna movement completely changed the equation of Delhi. The results of the assembly were hung. BJP got 31 seats, AAP 28 and Congress only 8 seats.

In 2015, elections were held again in Delhi, in which the AAP was completely flooded. Under Kejriwal's leadership, the party won 67 out of 70 seats and BJP got 3 seats, while the Congress account could not be opened. In the elections held in 2020, the Congress is in the same position as in 2015. Which is a matter of great concern for the oldest party in the country.
