After the introduction of new rules, it has become mandatory across the country that you always carry your vehicle documents with you. In this, it is very important that you have your driving license. If you do not have anything, then the traffic police can impose a challan on you. The Ministry of Road Transport and Highway (MoRTH) has tied up with DigiLocker, a cloud-based platform that allows you to take digital copies of documents to your desktop or mobile device. DigiLocker is directly integrated with the National Register, a national database of vehicle registrations across the country. While digitization of documents is not yet mandatory, it can hit you with those heavy fines.
According to media reports, it is easy to o use DigiLocker account and here you will know how to upload your documents and driving license. DigiLocker account is completely free and in this app, you can create your account through your mobile number. This app will send an OTP (one-time-password) to your mobile number by following which you can generate your username and password. After this, you will be asked for an Aadhaar number through which your necessary information will be added to the DigiLocker's system. Please note that in order to accept your record for a digital copy, the details of Aadhar card and driving license will have to be matched with DigiLocker.
To add driving license number to the system which confirms it with MoRTH records. Once matched, DigiLocker will bring the data for the license directly from the centralized system in real-time. The data drawn from the record comes with a timestamp for record-keeping purposes. Most importantly, your driving license is localized Should be updated with Transport Office (RTO). If the DL number is not present in the MoRTH record, DigiLocker will not accept a digital copy of your driving license. Your vehicle documents follow the next and include the Registration Certificate (RC), Insurance and Pollution Under Control (PUC). They cannot force you to submit original documents. Digital driving licenses and vehicle registration copies also reduce the use of physical documents. Remember the most important thing, only pictures or scanned copies of original documents are accepted by the traffic authorities. Will not be done.
